Professional paint correction across Hampshire and nearby Dorset.

Swirl marks, haze, oxidation and visible defects can flatten the colour, gloss and clarity of otherwise sound paint. Black Haven uses measured cutting and refining stages to improve the finish responsibly—after thorough preparation, focused inspection and paint-depth assessment.

Two-Stage Paint Correction

From £650

Final price varies by vehicle size. The achievable correction depends on paint condition, previous repairs, remaining paint depth and the defects that can be addressed safely.

Improve the paint itself

What paint correction actually does.

Paint correction uses machine polishing and carefully selected abrasives to reduce visible defects by refining a controlled amount of the damaged surface. Unlike a glaze or filler that temporarily masks marks, genuine correction improves the paint itself. The process must remain within the safe limits of the paint in front of us.

01

Swirl marks and wash marring

Fine circular or spider-web marks caused by poor washing may be substantially reduced where the paint condition and remaining depth allow.

02

Haze and holograms

Dullness, machine-polishing trails and an unclear finish may be refined to restore cleaner, sharper reflections.

03

Oxidation and lost gloss

Suitable faded or weathered finishes may regain colour depth, gloss and clarity, subject to the paint system and its condition.

04

Lighter scratches and visible defects

Suitable marks within the clear coat may improve, but deeper scratches through the paint cannot be polished away safely.

A result you can inspect

Correction—not temporary concealment.

Some products can temporarily fill or disguise defects. Genuine correction uses controlled machine polishing to reduce the defect itself. That is not permission to remove unlimited clear coat: safe preservation matters more than chasing an artificial percentage.

Temporary filling

  • May disguise marks for a limited period
  • Can reduce their appearance without correcting the paint itself
  • May reveal the defects again as fillers or oils diminish

Measured correction

  • Assesses the paint before polishing
  • Uses test sections to choose the safest effective system
  • Cuts and refines in separate stages
  • Inspects the actual corrected finish before protection

Two distinct polishing stages

Measured from the first inspection to the final pass.

  1. 01

    Assess the paint

We discuss the desired result and inspect defects, previous repairs, vulnerable areas and signs of earlier polishing.

  2. 02

    Complete Platinum preparation

The full Platinum Detail preparation includes a safe wash and appropriate tar, fallout and bonded-contamination treatment. Clay is used only where appropriate.

  3. 03

    Inspect and measure

Every suitable panel is inspected under focused lighting, with paint-depth readings taken across accessible painted surfaces.

  4. 04

    Test before committing

Test sections establish the safest effective compound, polish, pad and working method for the actual paint.

  5. 05

    Cut responsibly

The dedicated cutting stage progresses panel by panel, adapting to paint readings, defect response and evidence of previous repairs.

  6. 06

    Refine the finish

A separate refining stage restores clarity, depth and clean reflections after the cutting work.

  7. 07

    Prepare, protect and inspect

Polishing oils and residue are removed before the selected protection is applied. The finish is inspected from multiple angles and aftercare is explained.

Responsible paint preservation

No invented percentage. No unsafe chase for perfection.

Black Haven does not promise a fixed defect-removal percentage before assessing the paint. Two vehicles with similar visible marks may have very different paint depth, repair history and safe working limits.

Correction may safely improve

  • Wash swirls and marring
  • Haze and dull reflections
  • Suitable oxidation
  • Holograms from poor previous polishing
  • Lighter scratches within the workable paint layer

Correction cannot safely repair

  • Stone chips
  • Scratches through the clear coat or colour coat
  • Lacquer failure, cracking or peeling
  • Dents and physical panel damage
  • Poor repairs that require bodyshop work
  • Defects that would require unjustified paint removal

If an isolated defect is not safe to chase further, Black Haven will leave it visible rather than damage the surrounding paint.

Practical requirements

Correction needs suitable working conditions.

Black Haven Vehicle Care is mobile, but meaningful machine polishing requires suitable working space, stable lighting, weather protection and enough time to inspect the finish properly. We confirm the practical requirements before the appointment and will not carry out correction where the conditions would compromise the result or safe assessment.

Straight answers

Paint correction questions.

Can paint correction remove every scratch?

No. Suitable swirl marks, haze and lighter clear-coat defects may be substantially improved. Deep scratches, stone chips and damage through the paint layers cannot be safely polished away. Black Haven prioritises paint preservation over chasing an unsafe result.

Is machine polishing safe for the paint?

It can be when the paint is assessed properly and the process is controlled. Black Haven inspects the finish, takes paint-depth readings across accessible painted panels, uses test sections and adapts the method panel by panel.

How much paint does correction remove?

The amount varies with the paint, defect and polishing system. Correction works by refining a controlled amount of the damaged surface, so there is no responsible universal figure. The aim is the strongest worthwhile improvement without unjustified paint removal.

What is the difference between Paint Enhancement and Two-Stage Paint Correction?

Paint Enhancement uses one controlled polishing stage to improve lighter defects, gloss and clarity. Two-Stage Correction adds a dedicated cutting stage followed by separate refining for heavier defects that need more work.

Will paint correction repair stone chips or lacquer failure?

No. Stone chips, peeling lacquer, cracking and defects through the paint need repair rather than polishing. Black Haven will explain when a bodyshop or paint repair is the correct route.

Should I add ceramic coating after paint correction?

Correction creates the improved finish; protection helps preserve it. The package includes a durable sealant offering up to 12 months. Ceramic protection offering up to 4 years can be selected as a separate upgrade where suitable.

How long does Two-Stage Paint Correction take?

It usually takes 1–2 working days. The exact appointment and practical requirements depend on vehicle size, paint condition, working conditions and the responsible correction scope.
